Lufkin, Texas

Lufkin, Texas is the county seat of Angelina County and is located at the intersection of U.S. highways 59 and 69, in the heart of the Forest Country of East Texas, 85 miles south of Tyler. It was founded in 1882 as a stop on the Houston, East and West Texas Railway, when the line was built from Houston to Shreveport, Louisiana. The arrival of the railway brought new growth to Lufkin as the timber and lumber thrived then gradually gave way to industrial sites supporting the oil and energy transmission industries.

If you are one of the 40,000 middle-class hard-working people living in Lufkin or the surrounding area you know how difficult it is to save money for the future. Whether it’s for retirement, vacation or to help your kids get through college you sweated for that money. If someone you have entrusted to keep those funds safe and make your account work just as hard as you do fails to accomplish their duties either through negligence or fraud you need to have legal representation with broad experience dealing with brokers and Wall Street firms to help you recover those funds and perhaps punish them financially as well.

You may have no idea that you have been defrauded. As a quick check, if the overall stock market is up 20% and your account is down 30% over the same period something is wrong.  Your financial advisor or stockbroker may have misled you with false statements or omissions of important facts, unauthorized trading, mutual fund fraud, selling away, over-concentration, Ponzi schemes, failure to follow directions or other types of fraud. On our FAQ page, firm founder Bryan T. Forman explains the many different types of stockbroker and securities fraud and shows you what to look out for.

One somewhat common occurrence that is deemed to be securities fraud is if your investment professional makes a knowingly false statement to you to encourage your approval of the investment or fails to tell you some piece of significant information that might have made you have second thoughts about making that investment.

Before he or she shows you an offering of a security, they are required to make sure that there is nothing they are saying that is not true, even if the firm research department is touting the security. The other side of the coin is if they are aware that the president of the company has 3 convictions for stock fraud and you are not made aware of that fact, that is fraudulent conduct on the part of the investment advisor or stockbroker. This seems to happen most often in Oil & Gas Lease deals where overpromising and underdelivering appears to be the rule rather than the exception.
